HEAT PUMPS

Installation of a heat pump system
can be a good source of air conditioning in the summer and heat during the
spring and fall in the Hudson Valley area. Heat pumps can be installed as
a primary source of heat together with oil or gas as a backup source.
Cost savings can be realized for the heating season if it is properly installed.
A fossil fuel kit can be installed and when temperatures reach 40 degrees and
above an efficient heat pump (Seer) can be used. The fossil fuel kit
operates off of an outdoor thermostat and will automatically switch your heat
pump/air conditioning system over to your secondary source of heat (either gas
or oil).
It becomes less efficient if
electric strip heat is installed in the unit. When temperatures go below
approximately 40 degrees, the heat pump would then go into an electrical backup.
This is where you would incur substantial electric bills.
Occasionally, you can obtain
rebates from your local gas and electric company for the first time purchase of
a heat pump. Call us and ask about available rebates!
